Working with Text in R

Much geographic information comes as text. As R is a statistical software, it’s not the right choice for analyzing this kind of data, eh? Of course, it is. In this workshop you will learn how to treat text in R — how to concatenate, extract, substitute text by using regular expression and we will look into what R has to offer for text mining.

Costs? McGill students: free of charge, McGill other: $ 50, external: $ 100 (priority given to McGill community)

The workshop will take about 2 hours with a small break. The instructor is Dr. Tim Elrick.
