Using Planet Lab data in Google Earth Engine (GEE)

If you are interested in conducting analysis with Planet Labs data within Google Earth Engine (GEE) environment, then this workshop if for you.  GEE supports delivery integration from Planet’s Orders API. This implies that there is no need to download and re-upload images when you are moving imagery to your GEE account since a direct connection can be created from Planet’s APIs to GEE.

By the end of this workshop, you will be able to…

  • Set up Google Cloud Project (GCP) and Google Earth Engine (GEE) environment
  • Create a direct connection from planet’s API to GEE to send imagery to your GEE account
  • Load and visualize PlanetScope (Dove) satellite imagery (true color and false color composites)
  • Calculate spectral indices and classify land cover types based on spectral characteristics using PlanetScope (Dove) Imagery

  4. Request access to our Planet Inc. subscription from if you do not have access already.

This workshop will be held in-person at the GIC, BH511 (unless the public health situation suggests online) and will take about 3 hours. Registration is open until noon on the day of the workshop. In case the public health situation changes, you will receive a Zoom link for the workshop as well as login information to connect to a virtual machine.
