Geospatial processing of Vector Data in R

December 9, 2020 @ 17:30 - 20:00

Free

Using geospatial vector data in R used to be quite challenging. Not anymore. Join our workshop to see how to import, process and display geospatial data. You might not even need a conventional GIS software any more…

At the end of this workshop you will be able to

  • import geospatial vector data from different sources and file formats
  • merging and intersecting geospatial objects
  • create buffers and spatial joins
  • calculate nearest neighbours
  • create nice-looking maps

Pre-requisites: “Introduction to Data Science with R”, McGill’s R Summer Camp or some other basic understanding of R code (preferably including piping).

This workshop will be hosted online on Zoom and takes about 2.5 to 3 hours. Registration is open until 30 minutes before the workshops starts. You will receive the Zoom link for the workshop in time before the workshop starts. The instructor will be Tim Elrick.
