FreeQGIS is a free open-source software that offers an alternative to the ESRI ecosystem. It can create, edit, visualize, analyze and publish geospatial information on Windows, Mac, Linux, BSD and mobile devices.
By the end of this workshop (Raster Data in QGIS), you will be able to
- Understand the principles of a GIS and the basics of geospatial data
- Understand the structure of QGIS and common data types used
- Understanding raster data
- Raster calculation
- Importing ASCII raster files
- Define projection
- Mosaic rasters
- Masking raster (by shape & by values)
- Zonal statistics
- DEMs/Hydrology (Slope, Aspect, Hillshade)
- Map Algebra
- Display and design a map
Prerequisite: none. If you want to work on your own laptop you need to install QGIS on your computer beforehand from https://qgis.org/
This workshop will be held in person in Burnside Hall BH511 and takes about 2.5 hours. The instructor will be Qiao Zhao.
