March 9, 2023 @ 13:00 - 16:00

Free

Interested in monitoring ecosystem changes? Join us at GIC’s “Introduction to Google Earth Engine” Workshop! Google Earth Engine is a cloud-based platform that allows users to perform geospatial analysis using petabyte-scale remote sensing datasets.

At the end of the workshop, you will be able to:

  • use Earth Engine’s JavaScript-based code editor
  • understand different types of datasets available on Earth Engine and know how to use them in your project
  • select, clip, and visualize raster data at specific time and locations
  • apply geospatial processing functions
  • detect and quantify changes happening on Earth’s surface such as deforestation, flooding, drought, land cover change, etc.
  • plot time series

Prerequisites: none. However, please  register an Earth Engine account in advance, so you can use the code editor during the workshop.

The workshop takes about 2.5 hours and will be taking place in-person in Burnside BH511. The instructor will be Luci Lu.
