Retrieving Data from the Internet with R

FreeThe internet is full of data that you can use for your analysis. If you want to learn how to efficiently retrieve data, this is your workshop. We will discuss downloading files, using APIs, webscraping, downloading feeds and census data from Canada, the US and Europe.
At the end of this workshop, you will be able to
- use an API
- understand webscraping
- retrieve census data from Canada, the US and Europe
- understand how to work with RSS feeds
Pre-requisites: ‘Introduction to data science with R’, ‘R summer camp’, or equivalent
This workshop will be hosted online on Zoom and takes about 3 hours. Registration closes at 5 pm. You will receive the Zoom link shortly before the workshop starts. The instructor will be Tim Elrick.
