In this workshop, you will go over the fundamentals of conducting satellite imagery analysis in Google’s EarthEngine platform. You will learn the basics of how the platform works (and what makes it so powerful), how to navigate the API, as well as fundamental JavaScript coding necessary to use EarthEngine. We will work through an example of how the platform can be used for real-world applications in the Natural Sciences and beyond.

By the end of this workshop, you will be able to

  • Outline how Google Earth Engine operates from a client and server perspective
  • Navigate the Google Earth Engine API
  • Produce basic JavaScript code to analyze satellite imagery in Google Earth Engine
  • Interpret results from a satellite imagery analysis

Knowledge from the workshop “Introduction to Remote Sensing with Envi” is recommended, and some programming background is an asset, but not necessary.

The workshop will take approximately two hours with a short break. The instructor is Fanny Amyot.
